Anna Kendrick is publishing a collection of funny, autobiographical essays
Anna Kendrick is the latest in a slew of celebrities to get a book deal not for a typical Hollywood memoir, but instead for a collection of funny essays. Touchstone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish.
The comic actress’ yet-untitled book, due in fall 2016, will draw upon amusing, memorable moments from her life, whether growing up in New England to staring in giant films like Pitch Perfect. Kendrick’s Twitter is a little haven for lovers of sarcasm, packed with self-deprecating humor—so translating those bites into a book seems a natural next step.
“I’m excited to publish my first book,” Kendrick said in a release, “and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I’d like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which I embarrass myself. And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I’m very, very funny on Twitter, according to BuzzFeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!”
This could be good.
